Reggie Watkins

Young Adult Program Coordinator Reggie Watkins, MLAP, ADC, ICADC

Oxford Treatment Center’s 2017 Community Workshop Series continues this fall, with Third Quarter talks focusing on substance abuse trends among young adults.

Reggie Watkins, MLAP, ADC, ICADC, will speak on the topic at all three of Oxford Treatment Center’s outpatient office locations.

“Young people today are very different than young people a generation ago — including what and how they use substances,” he said. “We will talk about the different drugs they are using today and some of the difficulties involved in getting them off of those drugs.”

Watkins is a veteran of the substance abuse treatment field, with more than 20 years’ experience working with adolescents, young adults and families. He joined Oxford Treatment Center in February. He leads a team of five clinical therapists dedicated to the center’s Young Adult Program for ages 18-25.

A native of Alabama, Watkins spent most of his career with Bradford Health Services. He entered the treatment field in 1990 and worked with patients in both inpatient and outpatient treatment settings. His experience has included leading aftercare for families of people in early recovery, as well as developing and marketing treatment programs for adolescents.

Watkins is certified as a Master’s Level Addiction Professional, Alcohol & Drug Counselor and Internationally Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor. He holds a master’s degree in psychology.

Oxford Treatment Center’s Community Workshop Series is geared for family members, friends, neighbors, pastors and mental health professionals, with opportunities to ask questions during and after.

Attendance is free of charge and refreshments will be provided. In addition to the workshops, Oxford Treatment Center’s outpatient offices also provide an ongoing free support group for those who have a loved one in addiction or recovery. Family Hope & Healing meets Tuesdays at 6 p.m. at all three outpatient offices.
