International Overdose Awareness Day is a global event held on August 31st each year and aims to raise awareness of overdose and reduce the stigma of a drug-related death. It also acknowledges the grief felt by families and friends remembering those who have met with death or permanent injury as a result of drug overdose.
Oxford Treatment Center alumni will gather for a balloon release at 5:30 p.m. at the Oxford Outpatient Center.
Events in our region include a Candlelight Vigil at Beale Street Landing in Memphis. The Harahan Bridge over the Mississippi River will be lit up purple in support of the Tennessee Overdose Prevention campaign, along with bridges in Nashville and Knoxville.
An event every week that begins at 5:30pm on Tuesday, repeating until December 31, 2019
